'The Cochlear bionic ear implant is a device designed to help the hearing impaired and the profoundly deaf who are unable to benefit from traditional hearing aids.
- It has restored about 98% of hearing to people who had previously been totally deaf.
- The device is used by over 10,000 people world wide.
- It consists of two parts: a head set consisting of a 22-channel stimulator in a titanium capsule with platinum electrodes which is implanted inside the skull behind the ear, close to residual nerve fibres; and a pocket speech processor.
Professor Graeme Clark is Director of the Bionic Ear Institute and attends Doncaster City Church, an Assemblies of God(AOG) church, in Melbourne, Australia.
Professor Clark is the inventor of the cochlear implant or Bionic Ear. He recognises God's influence in his work. He says the Holy Spirit and principles he learned in the Bible helped him in the development of the Bionic Ear........
In January 2004, he was honoured in the Australia Day Honours List for his service to medicine and to science. His invention of the Bionic Ear has benefited people with hearing disabilities around the world. ....... He serves the Christian Medical and Dental Fellowship in Australia. .....
He also regualarly teaches Religious Education in a local school.'
